You can rename a database from cPanel’s database management interface. Create a backup before renaming an important database.
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Open Databases and select Manage My Databases. Older cPanel versions may show this as MySQL Databases.
- Under Current Databases, find the database you want to rename and click Rename.
- Enter the new database name and click Proceed.
Important: renaming a database can interrupt active connections. After the rename, update any website or application configuration that still refers to the old database name.
