How to Edit the .htaccess File in cPanel File Manager

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. In the Files section, click File Manager.
  3. Select the appropriate domain or folder location, then click Go.
  4. Navigate to the directory containing the .htaccess file. For the main website document root, this is usually public_html.
  5. If the file is not visible, click Settings in the upper-right corner of File Manager. Select Show Hidden Files (dotfiles), then click Save.
  6. Right-click the .htaccess file and select Edit or Code Edit from the context menu.
  7. If a Code Editor confirmation window appears, click Edit to open the editor.
  8. Make your changes, then click Save Changes.

If no .htaccess file exists in the directory, create one using File Manager before editing it.
