SolusVM’s automatic reinstall option may not let you customize partitions. To install an operating system manually, boot your VPS from the installation media and follow the installer.
- Log in to your SolusVM control panel. If you manage multiple VPSs, select the one you want to install.
- Under Settings, change the boot order to (1) CD-ROM (2) Hard Disk.
- Open the CD-ROM tab. If a disc is already mounted, unmount it. Select the operating system installation media, then click Mount.
- Click Reboot, then confirm by clicking Yes.
- Open the VNC console promptly after rebooting.
- On the VNC page, click Java VNC Client or VNC, depending on the option shown.
- Follow any prompts to launch the console. If a security warning appears, review it and allow the client to run if appropriate.
- When prompted during startup, press a key to begin installation. If the boot menu offers choices such as Install OS and Test this media, select Install OS and press Enter.
Continue through the operating system installer to configure partitions and set the required administrator or root credentials. When installation is complete, change the boot order back to (1) Hard Disk (2) CD-ROM so the VPS starts from its installed operating system.
