How to Install Vanilla Forum Using Softaculous in cPanel — HostCupid technical guide
  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. In the Software section, click Softaculous App Installer.
  3. In Softaculous, open the Forums category and select Vanilla.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Under Software Setup, configure the installation:
    • Choose Protocol: Select the protocol you want to use. Leave the default if it is suitable for your site.
    • Choose Domain: Select the domain for the installation.
    • In Directory: Enter a directory name to install Vanilla in a subdirectory, such as forum. Leave this field blank to install it at the domain root.
  6. Under Site Settings, enter a name for your forum.
  7. Under Admin Account, enter an administrator username, a strong password, and your email address. Avoid common usernames such as admin or administrator.

    Keep the administrator login details somewhere secure; you will need them to access the forum's administration area.

  8. Review Advanced Options. You can leave the defaults or adjust options such as the database name and automated backups. Backups use disk space.
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install to begin.
