How to Install MODX Using Softaculous in cPanel — HostCupid technical guide
  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. In the Software section, click Softaculous App Installer.
  3. In Softaculous, open the Portal/CMS category on the left and select MODX.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Under Software Setup, choose the protocol and domain for the installation. If you want MODX in a subdirectory, enter its name in In Directory (for example, directory). Leave this field blank to install MODX at the domain’s document root.
  6. Under Site Settings, enter a site name.
  7. Under Admin Account, set an administrator username, a strong password, and your email address. Avoid common usernames such as admin or administrator. Save these login details; you will need them to access the MODX manager.
  8. Review Advanced Options. Leave the defaults unless you want to change options such as the database name or automated backups. Backups use disk space.
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install.
