How to Install Contao via Softaculous in cPanel — HostCupid technical guide
  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Under Software, click Softaculous App Installer.
  3. In Softaculous, locate the Portal/CMS category in the left-hand menu, then select Contao.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Under Software Setup, configure the installation:
    • Choose Protocol: Keep the default unless you need a different protocol.
    • Choose Domain: Select the domain where you want to install Contao. If only one domain is available, keep the default.
    • In Directory: Enter a directory name to install Contao in a subdirectory, such as example.com/directory. Leave this field blank to install it at the domain root, such as example.com.
  6. Under Admin Account, enter the administrator details:
    • Admin Username: Use the username provided by the installer. The legacy instructions report that this field may not be editable.
    • Admin Password: Set a strong password.
    • Real Name: Keep the default or enter your name.
    • Admin Email: Enter your email address.
  7. Save the administrator username and password securely; you will need them to access the Contao administration area.
  8. Review Advanced Options. Leave the defaults unless you want to change the database name or configure automated backups. Backups may use disk space. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install.
