- Log in to your cPanel account.
- In the Software section, click Softaculous App Installer.
- In Softaculous, open the Forums category and select phpBB.
- Click Install.
- Under Software Setup, choose the protocol and domain for your forum. If you want to install phpBB in a subdirectory, enter its name in In Directory (for example,
forums). Leave this field blank to install it at the domain’s root. - Under Board Settings, enter the board name, site description, and board email address.
- Under Admin Account, enter an administrator username, a strong password, and your email address. Avoid common usernames such as “Administrator” or “Admin.” Save these login details securely; you will need them to access the phpBB administration area.
- Under Choose Language, select the forum’s default language. English is selected by default.
- Review Advanced Options. You can leave the defaults or change the database name and backup settings. Automated backups use disk space.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install.
