- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Under Software, click Softaculous App Installer.
- In Softaculous, open the Forums category and select AEF.
- Click Install.
- Under Software Setup, configure the installation:
- Choose Protocol: Select the protocol you want to use. You can keep the default selection.
- Choose Domain: Select the domain for the forum. If you have only one domain, keep the default selection.
- In Directory: Enter a directory name to install the forum in a subdirectory, such as
forum. Leave this field blank to install it at the domain root.
- Under Board Settings, enter the forum name and email address. Enable the UTF-8 character set if you need to support multiple languages.
- Under Admin Account, set an admin username, a strong password, and your email address. Avoid common usernames such as “admin” or “administrator.” Save the login details securely; you will need them to access the forum’s admin area.
- Review Advanced Options. Leave the defaults unless you want to change the database name or configure automated backups. Backups can use additional disk space.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install.
